Home

I'm home! It feels great to be home even though I wasn't gone for long. I really missed my boys.

However, it's sometimes hard coming home. I'm tired and sore- was up at 5am and got 3 hours of sleep last night and had a swamped day- most of which was on my feet. At 37 weeks pregnant that is a little hard. The hard part is that Brandon is having a hard time adjusting now with me home. Even though I was gone for one night I think that felt like an eternity for him. It is now almost 11pm and he is still wide awake and trying to see what he can get away with. He got to sleep with dad last night and of course had some fun/special time together and now it is time to get back to normal and that is a little hard for him. It's hard because I am so exhausted and need to get to bed myself but I want to stay up and try to get him to sleep....I didn't win.

Rob saw that I could barely walk anymore and my eyes are blood shot. He just left with Brandon in the car to drive a bit to get him to sleep. I am sure they will get not even 2 miles down the road and he will be asleep. Sometimes we need to use these special techniques on him.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit better. One thing I LOVE about my job (okay- I love a lot of things about my job) is that after a site visit or any business trip I always tell Mindy the day or two after is little-to-no work for me. I have a whole 30 minutes of work time scheduled for tomorrow and then we are spending the day with Oma and Auntie baking tons of cookies, making homemade soup, heading to Macy's 8th floor and the Hollidazzle parade! ALL while NOT thinking about work at all. She is always supportive and understanding about it (and a HUGE benefit of having a home office) but my brain is having a hard time turning off. I am sick of running traffic projections, sales totals, patient numbers, retail concepts, signage, floor plans...yadda, yadda, yadda in my head over and over. Time to turn OFF brain! That is what tomorrow with Brandon and the family is for!

Missing....

Tonight I am in La Crosse, Wisconsin for a work trip. I am only gone for one night and have always had a huge love for my job but tonight I am missing Rob and Brandon A LOT!

I can always call home, Skype and will be seeing them in a matter of hours but for some reason whenever I think of my boys I get a little sad. It is hard to be away from home.

Tonight I called home and talked to Brandon a few times. It makes my heart smile when I hear "Hi. Hi Mommy." He tells me all about his day and asks me where I am and shares with me all about the Lego garage him and daddy are building. I love that he will sit on the phone with me for minutes at a time talking about simple things!

I don't care about my sore back or aching feet or swollen ankles...just missing my boys!

Different kind of blogging

I have taken such a big break from Brandon's blog so I could do a different kind of blogging....

A few weeks ago I bought some simple sketch books from the book store and have been writing special letters to Brandon. These are special letters from me to him on heartfelt thoughts, advice, stories and memories. I will always have his baby book, this blog and a simple calendar to document milestones and notes but this sketch book is a book directly from me to him for our eyes only.

I also have one for this baby girl that is on her way! What a great way to share special events with your child and messages.

Funny Bath

Bubble Bath

At two and a HALF....

Brandon turned the big 'HALF' this past week. It is amazing how time flies.

Here is an update as to his life.....

* Loves Transformers. He loves watching the movies and the actual cars and Transformers. His favorite is Bumble Bee.

* He is now in a queen sized bed. We moved the Elmo toddler bed to the basement.

* He still goes to Mrs. Jennys (Wagners Wee Ones) home daycare 3 times a week. His friends there are Maddy, Bella, Lara and Dayne. He also loves their dogs (pugs) Denver and Sconnie. Mrs. Jenny is WONDERFUL with Brandon and the kids. He learns so much there.

* He loves to read books. Oma takes him to the library every few weeks to pick out new books. That is their special time together. He will sometimes sit in his bed and read for an hour. Some books he has memorized some he just makes up the story. The best part is 'The End'.

* He is learning his letters at daycare. His favorite so far is 'F'. He knows it is 'down, across, across'. We are working on other letters but for some reason he loves the letter 'F'.

* He can count past 10 pretty well but frequently skips '9'.

* He loves his daddy. When daddy is around-momma doesn't exist. They are best buds. He also knows he will be having a baby sister in the future but doesn't totally grasp the time frame or that mommy will be going to the hospital and coming home with a new baby.

* He loves to eat: chicken and fries, Nutra Grain Bars, Berries, Applesauce, Yogurt, Spaghetti and Garlic Bread, Corn, Pop Tarts, Cereal, Toast, Mac and Cheese, Milk (we call it backhoe juice), Juice, Gatorade, Cheese, Animal Crackers, Grilled Cheese, Pancakes, Bagels, Hashbrowns. He is still not a big meat eater.

* Every Saturday morning momma gets to sleep in and Brandon and dad go to breakfast together- usually to get a bagel. He loves this time with dad. Sometimes they go to the Golf Store (Golf Galaxy) and play on their putting green. They then usually get me a coffee on the way home. So sweet!

*He loves sports of all kinds. If he is watching football it is usually 'get him, get him' and 'touchdown'. If it is baseball it is always 'homerun'. He loves kicking, t-ball, basketball and most of all-LOVES golf. We did not get him out on the golf course this summer...we are saving that for next summer.

*He loves arts/crafts. He can play with playdough for hours and markers/crayons. For Oni and G-Toms B-Day he made them homemade gifts and did a great job. He loved to paint them.

* He is currently in Wednesday night ECFE classes. It isn't a long course-just individual classes we signed up for. 3 a months for Sept, Oct and Nov. In class they have an hour of free play time (parents are with) and then go to the large motor room. Each week is a different theme- Sports, Transportation, Jungle, Space, Sensory, Pumpkin/Fall, Construction....they do art and play with blocks, trains, legos, etc.

* He LOVES that daddy runs the back hoe. A few weeks ago we went to Daddy's work on a Saturday and Brandon got to run ALL the equipment. He is a lucky boy that he got to sit in the back hoe with daddy and dig dirt. He loves back hoes right now.

* He just got his first pillow pet (a Bumble Bee) which he sleeps on every night. He loves his pillow pet!

* He is speaking sentences, uses please and thank yous and his new thing is just responding with 'OK'. So when he calls for me I say, "I'm in the kitchen. I will be right there." He says 'OK'.

* He talks to Grandpa (Rob's Dad) every night on the phone. We see him every other week or so but Grandpa calls every night to talk to Brandon. He always asks Grandpa how Cory is doing. Cory is one of their 4 dalmations. Brandon loves Cory most but will play with any of the dogs when we are over there.

* Brandon is going to be Bumble Bee (Transformer) for Halloween. He picked it out!

* He loves his baths. We have started using bubbles again and he will sit in a bath for an hour playing with bubbles. He is great about letting us wash his hair and cleaning him up too.

* He is potty training a bit. He will go on occasion but we are not pushing it at all.

* He is great at brushing his own teeth, taking his nightly vitamin and going to bed. He is a great sleeper (wakes on occasion-but nothing major) and he is very good about going down for naps/bed time.

* Brandon loves to look at photos of himself or videos. I have them all on my lap top and he will ask to see pictures of 'Bwandon'. He laughs at the funny ones.

* He loves his auntie Nicky but most of all loves her iphone. He knows how to access everything on her phone- including the MLB scores. He plays Peek-a-Boo barn (ap) on her phone and watches videos of himself that she recorded. He also likes to Skype with her when she is in Chicago.

* He loves to mow the lawn. He has a little toy mower and dad has the big 'real' mower. Together they will mow the lawn and he will walk the entire thing.

* He is STILL my sweet little boy....always will be! And every day I STILL fall more and more in love with him!
