Lunch at day care

Our day care gal sent me to these at work with a "We're doing good" message. She mentioned he still doesn't feel well...that darn cold.

8:49am

It is 8:49am. I have been at work for all of 30 minutes....did I mention....WITHOUT
Brandon! He is at daycare. She was so excited to take him today and I am excited for them. They were going to go for a walk and play and do lots of fun stuff. Her daughter is there too (4 1/2) and she will play with him which I like so he can get used to kids. They also have the big St. Bernard dog that he can get used to.

So...how am I doing with all this? How is mom with his first day of 'daycare'? I am doing good....not great (more about that later)...but good. I really like his new daycare and her family. I think she will love him up and give him the attention he needs. So why am I not doing great? Because last night Brandon got sick.

I am getting over a sinus infection and other gunky stuff. Last night Brandon got the stuffy nose and was sneezing goobers like crazy. He couldn't breathe out of his nose (the only way he knows how to breathe right now). So he slept upright in his swing for a few hours and then in bed with us so we can keep a close eye on him. He actually slept through the night and did well. He is still stuffy this morning and still has the cold bug. The other thing it could be is teething. We will wait and find out.

So I am at work...doing good and keeping busy! Dad is at work...doing VERY good with his new job! and Brandon is at daycare...sick, but getting lots of love and attention. I hope he isn't too fussy on his first day.

PS- I did take photos of our first trip to daycare- I will post those later.

Sleepy Brandon

These are all shots of a sleepy boy.
Brandon fell asleep for a nap with his hand over his face.

Here he is ready to conk out in the car.

Notice how he isn't letting go of the toy hanging from his car seat....

Goofy sunglasses

Working on the sitting up deal

Brandon is learning to sit up. He is up to 6 seconds before he starts to tumble. He is working hard though.

Eating...nummy!

Auntie took over Brandon care while mom was cooking. He got to have carrots and green beans. He loved them...yummy!

Visits to moms work

Brandon has been busy with mom at work. His new daycare starts this coming week. He will be going to a home day care two days a week. We are really excited about it. Dad is doing great at his new job. He is one of their best yet. Everyone at work love Brandon but it is a lot of work being full time employee and full time mom...that is why Brandon will be doing daycare. Plus the gal we found will love him like one of her own...which is a blessing.

Forgot to mention

It is OFFICIAL...Brandon is 5 months old!

We didn't do much to celebrate but I did sing 'Happy Birthday' to him.

Happy Birthday sweet boy!

Monday Morning

Despite my pounding headache this morning was SO wonderful. Rob and I now get ready for work at the same time. Brandon comes into bed with us at 5 or so and we all cuddle for an hour or so before we start stirring to wake up.

Just a personal note....I LOVE my husband! Since his job change he is a TOTALLY different guy. He is happy, he is excited about his job and life, he loves his new boss, he finally has a career where his boss and co-workers are building him up and encouraging him and motivating him and not swearing at him and putting him down like his previous job. He was always walking on eggshells with his other 'boss' who is always angry and lied constantly. He doesn't have to worry about winters anymore. I am SO proud of him and excited for him. If any of you have seen him in action at his new job....he is really good at it. He brings that excitement and enthusiasm home with him and our marriage has never been better as well as our family life with Brandon. I am really impressed. He is doing a great job. Things are so much better at the Jurgens house now! I am very proud to be his wife.

Shower Pics

Busy Weekend...

What a busy weekend!

Friday night mom and Brandon joined dad for some work stuff. It was fun to see him in action. We got home around 10pm and went to bed.

Saturday we dropped Brandon of at Gma and Gpa Lathrops and we went to the Renaissance Festival. It was a fun time. We saw some great shows. Then we went back to get Brandon, joined Gma and Gpa at church and then went to their house for dinner. We got home late again.

Sunday I (mom) painted a wall then had a wedding shower for my brothers fiance. It was a fun time and Brandon was very good. He took a shower with me to get ready and it will be the last time we do that. You soap up mommy and baby and it gets too slippery and scary. He did good in the shower though. Sunday night we hung out a Gma and Gpa Herbsts and then went home to tidy the house and prepare for a busy week.

Night Time

Just a quick note about night time...

Things are getting better. Brandon still wakes up during the night and if we don't tend to him he will scream until he spits up or for hours (trust me, we have tried to let him scream). Right when we hear him we rush to him so he doesn't fully wake up and is still groggy. We aren't feeding him during the night anymore. So we just roll him on his side, stick his paci in, and pat his butt for a few seconds and he is back to sleep.

At 6am or so he comes into bed with us for cuddle time. I do nurse him at this time (pretty much the only time he nurses anymore) and he falls back to sleep. Even though I HATE mornings and would rather sleep in this is now my favorite time of the day. Once he is done eating I roll him over and spoon his body into my chest right under my nose so I can smell him and give him lots of kisses! We cat nap for about 20 minutes and then I have to get up and get ready for work. Such a sweet time.

Dad usually sleeps through this time and he gets his cuddle time after I leave since his work starts later than me. He gets to get up with him once or twice a night too though- which helps me out a TON!

ABC Book....

Auntie is making a scrapbook of ABC's for Brandon. We are using actual people, things, and photos that he is familiar with. This is one of my favorite ones...it is for the letter V for Videogames.

In the Kitchen with Brandon

I finally got to have a day at home with B...a day at home. I have been back at work full time and keeping busy. Dad (Rob) and I have been going back and forth with caring for Brandon as well as grandparents, aunties, and even folks at work when we bring him with us. Dad now gets some full days at work with his new job. Dad (Rob) is really liking his new job. It is a blessing for him ans our entire family that he is at a new job. The negativity from his previous job is gone!
He is SO excited about his new job...better pay...better benefits...better hours...better management...better company....overall a better fit.

So I spent some time with Brandon today. I haven't had a full day home with him in a while. I decided to make brownies and have B. help me.....

Here we are in the kitchen together. He loved to help. I would try and put the cooking materials on his Bumbo tray but he would just throw them off...it was funny. I couldn't keep them on the tray for him to play with.

He even got to stir for me. I will tell you how well of a baker he is when I taste the brownies tonight.

Uncle Jim even feeds me!!!!

More Great Grandma Time

Uncle Jim makes me laugh!

Around North Dakota

We showed Brandon around town on Saturday. One place we stopped was the Capitol to take some photos. The red flowers actually say 'North Dakota' but it was hard to get in the photo. Since this is Brandon's first trip out of state we want him to have some photos to remember it.

We went to a mexican place on Saturday and Brandon wanted to ride the stationary donkey.

Grandma got him a new stroller so we wouldn't have to take his big one to North Dakota...this one was perfect!
