Dad worked for most of the day. Brandon was still at Gma and Gpa's and with C.A.N (Crazy Auntie Nickey, yes, she calls herself that...we didn't pick it- she did). Dad still isn't feeling the best so I ran up to his work and brought him some cold medicine and water. Poor Daddy.

Today was also a big day. It was Uncle Ry-Ry and New Auntie Elena's Wedding Reception. They got married in Mexico on November 17th and had a reception back here at home at Gma and Gpa Herbst's. I played caterer and made sure the food was good, TP was stocked, drinks were cold. It was a long day and my back was in PAIN!!!! Brandon slept through the first hour then CAN went up to get him. She was excited to share the new outfit she bought him....Hat and all! He didn't mind. There were many babies there- I think we counted 7...and all but one were boys. It must have been the year of boys. Brandon was passed around and did really well. Rob visited after work and ate dinner with us. Once everyone left we had dinner and played a game as a family and had a fun time. However, I was in so much pain with my back we had to leave so I can get some medicine. That I did...after a trip to the pharmacy.

MOTHERLY LOVE....

is always commenting on the other beautiful babies at the party but deep down always knowing and believing your baby is the cutest (especially with the cute outfit CAN buys your kid).

MOTHERLY LOVE....

is letting your baby meet and be passed around to strangers so he/she gets used to other people and meets his family and friends.

MOTHERLY LOVE...is missing your little guy when he is just in the next room with his great aunt while you are re-stocking the carrots and dip for the guests.

MOTHERLY LOVE....is letting others buy and dress your baby and seeing the extreme joy and happiness he brings them.

MOTHERLY LOVE...is being okay with the fact that you didn't teach him patty cake because Grandma beat you to it. AND...being proud of your baby when Gma and him show you patty cake for the first time.

MOTHERLY LOVE...is seeing him clap that patty cake for the first time and having a tiny tear in your eye as you are so proud of him but a bit sad that he isn't your little newborn anymore and missing that.

A new twist...

I have a basic baby calendar at home. It is one of those Suzy whatever ones. It was a gift. I didn't know what to do with it when Brandon was born so I decided to write a little something on each day. Maybe it was his first bottle or visited Gma at work or Dr visit or something....It is fun to go back and remember some dates. So I am going to do that here...with a twist.

I recently read a cute article in one of my parenting magazines. It was about Motherly Love and had some examples of what motherly love it (letting him have the last cookie in the cookie jar even though you were craving something sweet). I decided I can do that in my posts. Some will have photos some won't. Besides my daily posts about what we are up to (or Brandon is up to) and my motherly love moments, I have decided to start writing a book. Note- I said START...who knows when I will finish it. I actually have a few ideas in my head for books.

My first will of course be about mothering...I already have a title. "Don't Forget the Nuk" and other humorisms of motherhood. I picked that title because that is a very popular line in our house. More on that later.

Anyway-onto our first Motherly Love day.

Friday, December 12th: Brandon and I spent the morning together at home. I had to visit the church where our expo was to be and run a few other errands. My parents watched Brandon. Crazy Auntie Nickey was going to stay the night at my parents too so we all decided to keep Brandon overnight at their house. (YEAH- sleepy time for mom and dad). Rob and I had a great date night planned. We have been saving for this night and had a coupon and needed a date night since it had been awhile. Rob and I got ready and headed downtown. We went to Zelos for dinner (and wine). Then we walked a few blocks to catch the horse drawn carriage ride. Both of us have wanted to do this. It was a simple ride but it was romantic and fun. We needed the night away.

Here is Rob with the horse (Johnny Be Good- was his name).

MOTHERLY LOVE:

Is missing your baby endlessly as you are apart for a night but knowing it is good for all involved as special mommy/daddy time is important.

Is taking the time alone whether it be to sleep or a massage or even just to relax so you can be refreshed for your child.

Da-Da

As much as I know this blog is about Brandon...can I just add how much I love his Da-Da (and yes, Brandon does say Da-Da).

Rob had a day off yesterday. He took care of Brandon and did lots more. I came home a little late from work...super tired and in severe pain with my back (that is a whole 'nother story).

Rob had: brought in the garbage and recycling bins, shoveled the driveway and porch, put salt down, swept out the entire garage, cleaned the kitchen including mopping the floor, put Brandon's crib together (which is actually a 2 person job), hung BRANDON's letters on his wall, hung other photos on the wall, did a load of laundry, cleaned the new living room, fed Brandon and changed him, and cleaned the entire entry way (if you have been to our new house you know that area is actually rather large).

It made my day! I was SO crabby because my back is hurting so bad but when I walked in and saw what Rob had done and that Brandon was happy to see his ma-ma I forgot about the back pain and was content.

Thanks Big Love for working so hard on your day off! I appreciate it!

I am spoiled with two great guys! I sure do love my boys!

Messy Boy

Brandon loves Biter Biscuits. Mom...not so much.

Quick Visit

A few weeks ago we visited Gma and Gpa Quick. Brandon had fun trying to get Grandpas toes and playing with Grandma. Here are a few shots from that weekend. Some are a bit blurry because I used their digital camera and it was a bit odd.

Blog Issues

Yes, I know there have been blog issues.

We are not going into detail but we are leaving it as is at this point. It is a long story.

I know it has been some time...so here is a simple update.

We are all doing good. We are for the most part settled into our new home and really love it. I even loved the snow shoveling this past weekend. Brandon also loves his new home. It is more open, more room to play, and it even echos still so his screams are echoing throughout the house.

As for Brandon- he is approaching 8 months already. He is rolling over and close to getting up on his hands and knees but not crawling. He is saying da-da often and ma-ma when he is mad and screaming. He is learning to wave his fingers and hand to say Bye-bye. If he sees someone do it he will do it. He does stand with help or hanging onto things but he stays on his tip-toes. Super cute.

As for photos...I have a few on my work lap top that I will post soon. My camera battery died and somewhere amongst our moving mess we lost the charger. I bought a new one from ebay and it arrived today. I will take more photos soon and post them.

All for now!
