Boston Celtic's WON last night. They are heading to the NBA Finals so Brandon will get more use of the Boston Celtic's onsie Uncle Ry got him.

Day with mom
Friday was a day with mom. Yes, most days are with mom but dad had to work late so it was just mom and Brandon. He was a very good baby. Brandon slept most of the day, enjoyed the swing, our daily walk to the mailbox, and singing Wheels on the Bus with mom. We met Gma and Gpa for a graduation open house of a gal that mom used to babysit when she was a little girl. Mom has known them for over 15 years or so. Gma and Gpa and Uncle Ry-Ry went too. Since dad was still working we went back to Gma and Gpa's house for an hour. Mom got to work on her needlepoint and Gma and Gpa got to see Brandon awake and playing on the floor. He was very happy. Dad came home at 9pm dripping wet from the storms but he still played with Brandon. It was a fun day. Dad has to work again tomorrow so it is another day with mom!

Great Grandma Day
Thursday was Great Grandma Day! Both haven't met Brandon yet so we had a busy day. Brandon was VERY GOOD! He didn't cry much at all and did great. I am convinced he likes busy days and the chance to get out of the house (like his mother).
We started with a visit to Mike and Nancy's (Rob's dad and step-mom's). Nancy's mom, Marge was in town from Arizonia. She showed mom the famous Grandma B's tummy position with the baby on your lap. Brandon liked it. We will have to try that one more often.
Once Dad got home from work we went to Great Grandma Carney's which is Kay's mom (Rob's Grandma). She lives in Hopkins and was very excited to see Brandon. He was a little fussy but we notice he is more fussy in the evening hours until he heads to bed. He was also hungry.
He has 6 more 'greats' to meet yet. One on the Lathrop (dad's) side and 5 on mom's side. Wow that is a lot! We should add up all his 'greats' with aunts/uncles/cousins too. I am sure we would go way over 100 or more. We are going to try and go to North Dakota in a few weeks to meet Great Grandma Weigel (Mom's G-ma). We will see how Brandon is doing closer to the date as well as dad's work schedule.
Dad is working most of the weekend into the evening too! Brandon promised to be a good sleeper so dad gets plenty of rest at night! :)

Tough Night
Last night was ONE tough night until we got Brandon to sleep. He slept yesterday from 11am to about 2pm and again from 3pm to 4pm...then he was up. He didn't even cat nap all night. This is not like him at all. I think it was one of two things. Either his tummy hurt really bad or he was just being a crabby baby that wanted his way. We tried feeding, rocking, swing, pack and play, music, singing to him, cuddling him, clothes on, clothes off, diaper change, gas drops...until 9;30 last night. Rob was determined to get him to sleep as Brandon's eyes were red from no sleep. I told Rob he had until 10pm and then I was going to put him in the car and take him for a ride. Finally at 9:50 he fell asleep. Rob gently put him in his pack and play next to my side of the bed and he stayed asleep. I was shocked. Then I tried to sleep and for some odd reason I was wide awake and couldn't fall asleep. I finished the Celtics game (they won) and still couldn't fall asleep. It was close to midnight when I finally fell asleep. Brandon woke up twice and did a quick diaper change and feed and went back to sleep. He slept in as well until 9am. I was surprised. Today he is doing great and sleeping well. I will post more later about our fun day today!

Mom learned her lesson
Brandon has been super fussy the last 2 days. Today he slept in the car on the way to a special lunch with an old friend Teri but that was all he slept. He has been up a lot at night as well. I have noticed how hard his tummy is and he is burping and spitting up more often too. That made me think about foods I have eaten going to the jalapeno's I had the other day. I am sure he didn't like them. I deserve the fussy baby then don't I. I feel bad that it happened but we are both learning together. Tuesday Brandon and Mom hung out at home. We decided to plan a nummy dinner for daddy....steak and corn on the cob. Doesn't sound like much but it is what he wanted. The corn is small but REALLY GOOD! We all decided to head to bed early last night. Sure, we were in bed by 9pm BUT still awake at midnight. Hopefully he will sleep tonight. He has really changed lately. We have figured out that he is now about 10 pounds. He is getting taller too but we haven't measured that. He is also focusing more and more on faces. He also knows his mommy and daddy. If he is being held by someone else and hears our voice he tries to find us. It makes us feel loved. Tonight we are watching the Celtics game- maybe from bed to try and get some sleep. GO K.G.! +057.jpg)

Happy Memorial Day
Yesterday was another relaxing, lazy day. We all needed a few days to do nothing. We stayed home and watched movies and I did my needlepoint. I have resulted in keeping busy with needlepoint. I am actually working on a piece for Brandon's room that is sports theme and will have his name, birthdate, and weight on it. I am actually enjoying it. Last night we went to my parents for the last bit of the North Dakots clan events. We BBQ'd kabobs and corn on the cob- nummy! We had a fun time with Jan and Brenda. We always have a good time together and laugh too much. Auntie Brenda got to rock Brandon to sleep. He liked that. We got home and attempted to sleep but Brandon was not about sleeping AT ALL last night. We got maybe an hour or two's sleep. He ate for 10 minutes, slept for 20, was up for 20, slept for 20...for almost the entire night. He spit up many times so I am assuming it was something I ate that caused an upset tummy. He cried alot too and just couldn't be comforted- that is how I knew he wasn't feeling all that great. The rest of today went pretty well though. Mom and Brandon slept till 10am (off and on) trying to catch up on sleep. Dad had to get up at 5am for work. Mom tries to let Dad sleep at night since he has to get up early in the morning to go to work. He is willing to get up and help but he gets little sleep as is so having to wake up the few times at night won't help him any. Plus Brandon usually feeds for about 10 minutes and is back in bed so there is no really major need. Dad's time is when he gets home from work at night. Brandon knows his voice right when he walks in! They like 'guy time' they call it!
Anyway- off to bed early tonight since last night wasn't the best. I think Brandon will do better tonight.

Lazy Sunday!
Sunday we had another lazy day. Brandon and Dad hung out in the morning and let mom sleep in. We enjoyed a day together watching tv, napping, reading, and a Target run. Brandon was really good. We met the family at Benihana's for my cousin Jan's Birthday. Since she was here from ND we decided to do something for her B-Day. She doesn't always have the best of days for her B-day since it falls on the day that our other cousin, Missy, was killed in a car accident. This year it will be 11 years. I can't believe it was that long ago. So we went to Benihana's and Brandon slept during the entire meal. He did great. Because it takes a long time to have the meal we got home a little late. We got Brandon to sleep and he slept untill 4am! It was great. I love waking with him in the middle of the night. His expressions are a million times better during the night. They are great. He went back to sleep until 7am and I fed him in bed. We snuggled and cat napped until 9am. It was great. Now he is sleeping on dad while we watch movies today. Yesterday while hanging out at home Brandon and dad had some chats and good photo shots.
This one is him riding a motorcycle.

Lazy Saturday
Saturday was a much needed lazy day. Brandon did well sleeping (got up a few times) and dad took him at 9am and let mom sleep in (much needed) until NOON! Big YEAH for pumping. Although they got to nap too.

We did make a run to the bank. Brandon and Mom stayed in the car. That was our most exticing part of the day. We even went to bed by 9pm. Brandon didn't fall asleep until after 11:30 but I didn't mind as it was fun to snuggle with him and watch all his expressions. I have really enjoyed our middle of the night feedings lately. We wake a few times at night (mom and Brandon...dad gets to stay asleep since he has to be up by 5am for work). Brandon is only awake for 10-20 minutes (nice). He makes super cute faces and does a great stretch with his head and butt stuck out. It is SO cute.
Today is hmm...the same thing! Veg time at home. We'll see!

Great night # 2
YEAH!

Another great night. He fell asleep on his own again and slept well. He woke up twice for a 10 minute feeding and quick diaper change and went back to sleep. It was a morning off for mom which was GREATLY appreciated. Dad took Brandon at 9am this morning (we all got to sleep in that late). Mom slept till almost noon- but she needed it!
Last night we had the big BBQ. There were over 16 people there and a new friend of Brandon's who is a day younger than him. It was a fun time. Dad played Boccee ball and won! Even Hudson was there.
And guess what Uncle Ry-Ry brought!!!!!!! He went to Boston a few weeks ago and brought Brandon back some great outfits. Dad changed him immediately into the Boston Celtics onsie. He also got a Boston Red Sox hat like dads. Here are some photos of that...like father, like son huh? Sorry you can't really see Brandon's face. He was a little fussy in the picture so we need will take a better one later.
It was a fun evening with family and friends. Today it is relaxing at home and doing whatever Brandon wants! Even though every day is kind of like that.

Best Night EVER!!!
YEAH!!!
It was a GREAT night last night. I am sure it won't happen again tonight, but that is okay. We visited with family that came from North Dakota. My aunt Brenda and cousin Jan are in town for a different family wedding. We haven't seen them since our wedding so we are excited to spend some time with them and introduce them to Brandon. We had dinner and then Rob went home with Brandon and gave mom a few hours off and to help the family make home made cupcakes. It was a nice few hour break from Brandon even though all I could think about was him and missed him. I got home and he was laying in bed with dad just chatting. I took a risk of just putting him in his bed still awake. I decided I would try it but thought Rob was wacko and there was no way it was going to work. Well....I will admit it...I was WRONG!
I laid him down and he was still wide awake. He chatted to himself for a while and eventually fell asleep. He ate at 9:30 and I was waiting for him to wail to eat again. He didn't need to eat and fell asleep. He woke up at 2:30 to eat and again at 4:30am. He was up for 10 minutes and fell right back to sleep and slept well. He slept SO well and let mom and dad sleep too. I can't believe it. I fed him at 7am and he wanted to nap more and let me shower and get ready for the day. I had to wake him to get him ready for the day and he wasn't happy about that.
Today we went to the Mall of America (his first trip) with the out of towners. We were there for a few hours and he did great. He only cried when he was hungry otherwise he did great. Tonight is a fun Memorial Day BBQ with lots of family and friends. We are looking forward to it.
Especially since mom and dad are so well rested after a great night.

Wednesday night with dad
Wednesday night we hung out at home. Dad made burgers, mom made the homemade fries....and Brandon slept! We have noticed a pattern with him that he starts getting fussy around 5pm. He is great all day for me and then dad comes home and he gets fussy. It is really odd. During the day he falls asleep on his own, eats well, will veg on his activity mat so I can eat lunch. When it hits about 5pm that all changes and all he wants is to be held. Even if he falls asleep while being held we put him down and he screams. We have to start working on the bed time routine and trying to get him to fall asleep on his own at night.
So last night dad decides to burp him. He does this better then mom! We burp him while sitting on our laps. So he was wiggly and squirmy too. We decided to let him go and see what will happen. Of course it was safe. So here are some photos of his burp time with dad that ended up in 'tummy time' and exercising his neck which he does very well. Don't worry he didn't even come close to falling, he didn't cry at all, he was wide awake and enjoying this new (and very strange) position. It is a little funny!

Brandon's Blog...the beginning

So...a 4 week old baby has a blog! What is this world coming to?
Actually, the reason for it is quite creative actually. Okay, maybe not creative since everyone and their mother has blogs these days. However, for us and Brandon we have decided this might be easier. We frequently get phone calls asking how Brandon is. When you have a baby that is the first question you get asked by family, work, friends, even strangers. Because we have a large family and friends base we decided Brandon should have his own blog to keep everyone informed. We LOVE that people are so interested in how he is doing...even how he is eating, sleeping, burping, etc. We know that he is a very loved little boy. There are many things we forget to tell family and friends so hopefully this will be the place to share that.
As for today...Brandon is doing great! He is in his swing right now (which he loves sometimes and hates sometimes). He is about to wake up from a little nap. Our mornings are pretty routine. He eats at 5am when dad is up with us. We all wake up together (which takes us a half hour because only Brandon is a morning person). He does go back to sleep and lets mom have another 2 hours of sleep. He is wide awake at 7ish and I bring him into bed with me. This is one of my favorite times of day. I lay him next to me and he eats again. Because I can feed him laying down sometimes I take small cat naps and when I do Brandon just stares at me. He loves being close to people and cuddling. After eating, singing, and talking about our morning I jump in the shower. Brandon is SO GOOD during this time. He likes to lay in the middle of the bed surrounded by pillows and listen to music while mom is in the shower. After I am ready for the day and he is ready for the day we go downstairs and just hang out. Sometimes he swings, sometimes he plays on his activity mat, sometimes we just cuddle. Every day we try and get out and do something. I can't stay in the house all day and he actually loves going out. He loves being outside and loves car/stroller rides. Yesterday we went for a walk and had lunch with Auntie Nicky, Auntie Becky, Auntie Elena, and Auntie Karen. He was really good. Today we are going to Turn Style. I am really excited to get rid of some maternity clothes that I don't want anymore. We are going to run a few errands, get fathers day cards, return some movies to RedBox, and then come home. We are glad it is nice outside. Rumor has it they are opening our pool at the townhomes this weekend. I am hoping for a warm day before I return to work so I can take him to dip his feet in. He isn't a fan of water- but I want to just see how he does dipping his feet in.
Please feel free to leave comments or questions. I am going to also try and post a photo every day.
Have a great Wednesday all!
